Spatials is an open-source project defining a unified interface for 3D video. It treats volumetric, immersive video as its own medium, removing the need to worry about how the content is rendered and letting creators and developers focus on user experience.
We aim to bridge the gap between traditional 2D video and fully interactive 3D experiences. By simplifying the language and tools around 3D video, we empower anyone to work seamlessly with spatial content.
We introduced the .splv
format to support streamable spatial videos. This open format is optimized for 3D video content, enabling efficient storage and real-time streaming of volumetric data.
Encoders and decoders for .splv
are available to integrate into your workflow, and our open-source players (SpatialJS and SpatialCS) support this format for playback on web and native platforms.
